Most Frequently Asked Questions
What is Family Weekend?
Family Weekend is an annual university event that gives families of current undergraduate students a glimpse into life at Stanford. The weekend includes a variety of activities, including conversations with university leaders, faculty lectures, panel discussions, student life open houses, residence hall receptions, student performances, and ample opportunities to spend time with your student.
Who can participate in Family Weekend?
Family Weekend is open to parents and families of currently enrolled Stanford undergraduate students in all four class years. Due to various capacity and logistical limitations, we must ask that you bring no more than four (4) family members to visit your undergraduate student during this weekend. Also, please note that activities are not geared towards young children.
Is registration required to attend?
Yes. Prior registration is required for all individuals planning to visit campus, attend events, or enter buildings in person during Family Weekend. No day-of on-site registration will be available. If you do not plan to attend in person, you do not need to register. Registration opens in December.
Is there a cost to attend?
There is no cost to participate in Family Weekend activities, and most campus attractions are free; however, there may be other events happening on campus during the weekend that require tickets to be purchased, such as athletic events and arts performances.
How can I be added to the email list to receive Family Weekend communications?
Parents and guardians listed as contacts for currently enrolled undergraduate students are automatically included on our email list, unless they have opted out of email notifications from the university. Therefore, most individuals do not need to take any action to receive communications. Our first email communication was sent in early December. If you are still not receiving communications, please check your spam or junk folder first. Then, submit a request to be added.
